Wild bird photographed from a hide rented from Mark Hancox / Nature Photography Hides. Kingfishers are attracted to a suspended tank containing fish bait. A variety of interchangeable perches could be placed at different angles around the tank. Here, the Kingfisher has successfully caught a fish but has landed on the edge of the tank instead of returning to the selected perch. The bird then tended to fly upriver and land on an overhanging branch before eating the fish.
